まちなみ逍遙

日本、岡山県、下津井の一表情です。
鷲羽山の南麓にある、瀬戸内海を望む港町・下津井は、天然の良港に恵まれ、奈良・平安時代の古くから「風待ち・潮待ちの港」として栄えました。
江戸時代から明治時代にかけては、北前船の寄港地として繁栄し、また、金比羅参りの渡し場としても賑わったといいます。
潮風に誘われながら、生活感のある街並みの散策となりました♪

Shimotsui formed a natural good port , and was an important port for passage through Seto Inland Sea ( ships waited for a favourable wind) from the Nara,Heian period.
In the early-modern times ( Edo period ), Shimotsui flourished as ports of call of Kitamae-bune, cargo vessels, and also as the ferry to visit Kotohira-gu Shrine( called Konpira-mairi ).
