Persepolis  literally meaning “the Persian city,”　also known as the Throne of Jamshid, was the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire (ca. 550–330 BC).

Persepolis is situated 60 km northeast of the city of Shiraz in Fars Province, Iran.
The earliest remains of Persepolis date back to 515 BC. It exemplifies the Achaemenid style of architecture. UNESCO declared the ruins of Persepolis a World Heritage Site in 1979.

ペルセポリスは、アケメネス朝ペルシア帝国の都で、ダレイオス1世（ダーラヤーウ1世）が建設した宮殿群であった。
紀元前331年、アケメネス朝を滅亡に追い込んだ、アレクサンドロス大王の攻撃によって破壊され、廃墟となり現在に至っています。
私は女一人旅で早朝、訪れましたので、広大な遺跡を、古代史のロマンに夢をはせながら散策できました。
