ルナホテルバリオーニは，ベネチア本島のサンマルコ広場至近の大運河（カナル・グランデ）沿いに位置し，小さなサンマルコ水路に開いた水上タクシーが横付けできるエントランスを擁した，Leading Hotels of the Worldと，Fine Hotels & Resorts　にリストアップされている名門ホテルです。
多くの宿泊客は水上タクシーで横付けしてチェックインしている様子でしたが，私はマルコポーロ空港から遥々と公共水上バスに揺られ，サンマルコ停留所から石畳の上をキャスターを引き摺りながら辿りつきました（停留所からも至近です）。
しかし如何せん，ベネチア本島は宿泊代が高騰しており，他の西欧の観光都市の２倍近くの室料を覚悟しなければなりません。
