まちなみ逍遙

Ikebukuro is a commercial and entertainment district in Toshima, Tokyo, Japan.
Ikebukuro station, which is the second busiest station in Japan, second only to Shinjuku Station, and several shops, restaurants, and enormous department stores are located within city limits.
On the other hand, in Higashi-Ikebukuro, which spread the east side of Ikebukuro Station,unpretentious streets and houses still remained.
But, now, in a redevelopment project, the district are changing into a street of office buildings.

東京都では勿論，全国的にも有数の巨大ターミナル，池袋駅の東口北側一帯に広がる東池袋は，サンシャインを擁するほか，飲食店や商業施設，そして今では大手家電メーカーが商戦を繰り広げているエリアです。
他方，都電荒川線の東池袋四丁目停留所と向原停留所の間は小さな住宅の密集地であり都心でも長屋の風景が最近まで多く見られました。
しかし現在，「東池袋四丁目地区再開発地区計画」および「東池袋四丁目地区地区計画」として、東池袋四丁目および南池袋二丁目の一部における再開発が進められており，庶民的な街並みは櫛の歯が抜けたように随所に再開発用地が生まれ，家々も現在的な建売住宅が目立ち，下町情緒は消えつつあります。
